Counsellors (Day & Overnight)

Full-time 9 weeks (or negotiated weeks): July 1 to September 1, 2023. Camp sessions: $500 – $620 per week (depending on grants). Staff training week: $80/day.

We are looking for Day Camp and Overnight Counsellors. Counsellors are responsible for the care and supervision of camper groups throughout the day. As such, they will accompany their groups to all activities and will also have numerous opportunities to plan and facilitate fun and engaging programming for their campers. They are role models, mentors, listeners, adventure guides, problem solvers, and encouragers who are the frontline faces, hands, eyes and ears of the Cave Springs camp experience.


Kitchen Staff

Full-time 9 weeks: July 1 to September 1, 2023. Option to combine with a counselling position. Camp sessions: $500 – $620 per week (depending on grants). Staff training week: $80/day.

Kitchen Staff work with our Head Cook to prepare nutritious tasty meals for the whole camp. When they are not working in the kitchen they will hop into various parts of camps to help with programming and supporting camper groups. Kitchen Staff are hardworking flexible staff who love to prepare food and bring smiles to kids faces.


Camp Maintenance Worker

35 hours/week: May 15 to September 1, 2023. Wage: $15.50/hr.

Our camp maintenance staff support the ongoing work of caring for our grounds and facilities.This involves chores such as lawn maintenance, cleaning bathrooms, re-stocking, inspections and helping with repairs. Their hard work pays off in the form a site that is safe and functional. They maintain a camp that all staff and campers can take pride in.

Counsellor Responsibilities (Day and Overnight)

  • Provide a safe, healthy, and inclusive environment for all campers and staff.
  • Act as a positive role-model for campers, staff, volunteers, and others associated with the camping program.
  • Act as a servant leader who is present and attentive to the needs of campers and staff.
  • Facilitate the planning of the daily schedule for assigned group.
  • Lead activities for assigned group.
  • Provide leadership, support and supervision at camp-wide events.
  • Bring enthusiasm, creativity and excellence to camp leadership and programming.
  • Contribute to the development of faith formation and a supportive Christian community environment
  • Instruct campers in emergency procedures.
  • Complete all required documentation in an accurate and timely nature.
  • Maintain good public relations with campers’ parents/guardians.
  • Provide effective communication of information with staff members.
  • Supervise campers in overnight program, as assigned.
  • Share the workload and responsibilities with fellow staff members.
  • Facilitate the learning and growth of other staff members.
  • Effectively communicate the needs and concerns of campers and staff to co-leaders.
  • Utilize the resources of other members of the staff team and campers.
  • Act as a role-model for personal self-care including health and well-being.

  • Follow the policies, procedures, and practices of Cave Springs Camp.

Kitchen Staff Responsibilities

  • Accommodate special diets if within the capabilities of Cave Springs Camp kitchen.
  • Prepare, cook and serve food according to the nutritional guidelines set out by Canada’s Food Guide.
  • Cooperate and plan with the Camp Director for any special programs involving food.
  • Assist and/or supervise kitchen clean up: Wash dishes, glasses, pots, pans, and utensils
  • Sweep and mop floor Assist and/or supervise the safe storage of food.
  • Ensure that all garbage is removed from the kitchen and sent to the appropriate areas (dumpster, compost, recycling)
  • Understand and execute Camp Kitchen Policies and Procedures.
  • Practice good health habits and maintain personal appearance.
  • Assist with Summer Camp Programming when not working in the kitchen.
  • Attend and participate fully in all pre-camp training sessions.
  • Sets personal goals and engage in on-going self-evaluation.
  • Act as a role-model for personal self-care including health and well-being.
  • Engage in ongoing skill development.
  • Takee care of equipment and the facility.
  • Work effectively with year-round and seasonal staff of Cave Springs Camp.
  • Maintains professionalism and confidentiality.

Camp Maintenance Worker Responsibilities

  • Act as a positive role-model for staff, campers, volunteers, and others associated with the camping program.
  • Inspect camp facilities daily and report any issues or safety hazards to the Property Manager.
  • Follow all safety rules and regulations.
  • Work on assigned projects, and make appropriate decisions based on work experience and individual skills.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of all buildings and grounds on property.
  • Cut camp grass.
  • Clean camp washrooms daily.
  • Clean and re-stock all buildings daily.
  • Respond to requests for clean up or general maintenance in a timely manner.
  • Assist with pool cleaning and maintenance.
  • Perform site water testing.
  • Communicate and enforce all Cave Springs rules, policies and procedures in a professional manner.
  • Provide support, and assistance with camp activities as assigned.
  • Perform other job related duties as assigned.
