We offer a variety of positions that all work together for one purpose: AN AMAZING WEEK FOR EVERY CAMPER!

Some roles work directly with campers throughout the day and some roles serve through the campers with nourishing meals, excellent activities or important behind the scenes tasks.  For new staff, there is time in our training week to learn the skills, attitudes and perspective you’ll need. For returning staff, this year is an opportunity to build on your past success and take your leadership to the next level.

Head Staff Positions

Day Camp Coordinator

Full-time 17 weeks: May 6 to August 30, 2024. $720/week. The Day Camp Coordinator inspires and mentors Day Camp Counsellors and oversees the smooth running of the daily Day Camp program. They organize staff, plan schedules, check in with groups and much more. They work together with the Heads Team to oversee and support all camp activities. The position includes running day and overnight programs for schools in May and June. On site living is required in July and August. In May and June, on site living is an option throughout this period and some on site living is required.

  • Foster an effective and creative Christian community environment that supports personal growth, faith development, nature appreciation and synergistic collaboration.

Overnight Coordinator

Program Coordinator

This includes ensuring all camp activities and creative program events run successfully throughout the camp week. They work together with the Heads Team to oversee and support all camp activities. Head Cook

Full-time 10 weeks: June 24 to August 30, 2024. $800/week. The Head Cook oversees the kitchen to ensure that the kitchen runs in a safe and smooth manner. They are responsible for ordering food and ensuring that campers and staff receive healthy and tasty meals. They provide supervision and direction in the kitchen, ensuring that all kitchen staff have what they need to be successful. They are a senior staff member who is a role model and leader for the staff team.

  • Ensure that food handling and kitchen sanitation follows all standards and requirements of Cave Springs Camp and the Niagara Public Health.
  • Coordinate food storage according to all Cave Springs Camp and Niagara Public Health standards.
  • Create camp menus in accordance with the camp budget and nutritional goals.
  • Coordinate the procurement of all food.
  • Supervise the preparation of all food.
  • Ensure that the camp nut and allergy policies are followed in food preparation.
  • Supervise the provision of menu alternatives for campers and staff with special food needs.
  • Ensure that meals are produced on time, and sufficient quantities are available.
  • Maintain stock levels of all kitchen supplies.
  • Operate and maintain all kitchen equipment according to manufacturer instructions and safety guidelines.
  • Act as a positive role-model for staff, campers, volunteers, and others associated with the camping program.
  • Act as a role-model for personal self-care, including health and well-being.
  • Supervise, train, guide, and work together with all kitchen staff.
  • Model and uphold all community norms and expectations.
  • Model and facilitate a positive, supportive and encouraging atmosphere in the kitchen team.

Healthcare Coordinator

Full-time 10 weeks: June 24 to August 30, 2024. $720/week. The Health and Wellness Coordinator is focused on overseeing camp wellness through administering medication and providing first aid support. They will ensuring that campers, staff, and site visitors are following best practices for health and well-being. When they are not performing these duties, they support the wider camp program with the program team. On site living is required.

  • Follow all health and wellness procedures and standards of Cave Springs Camp and Niagara Public Health.
  • Monitor and review health and wellness policies and recommend updates, as appropriate.
  • Be familiar and aware of the health needs of campers and staff on site.
  • Maintain a well-stocked, orderly, and organized Wellness Centre.
  • Ensure that supplies and medications are stored in accordance with camp policies.
  • Proactively monitor and assess the health and wellness of campers and staff.
  • Conduct wellness visits and assessments, as needed.
  • Administer first aid, as appropriate.
  • Tell the Camp Director when an assessment by a physician is needed.
  • Keep thorough and timely records of Wellness Centre visits, evaluations, and actions taken.
  • Conducts follow up checks with campers and staff, as appropriate.
  • Administer daily medications, as necessary.
  • Maintain confidentiality for all camper and staff health and private information.
  • Provide necessary health resources including: Ongoing “best practice” training for staff, Stocking of first aid kits, Provision of PPE
  • Be present at camp registration to receive medication, communicate with camp families and conduct health screening.
  • Provide leadership and role modelling to all camp staff regarding sun safety, healthy eating, and adequate sleep, etc.
  • Maintains good communication and public relations with parents/guardians.
  • Act as a positive role-model for staff, campers, volunteers, and others associated with the camping program.
  • Act as a role-model for personal self-care, including health and well-being.
  • Model and uphold all community norms and expectations.
  • Model and facilitate a positive, supportive and encouraging atmosphere in the Wellness Centre.
  • Provide a safe, healthy, and inclusive environment for all campers and staff.
  • Communicate effectively with staff members, senior leaders and the directing team.

  • Support the camp program as available and appropriate.

Head Lifeguard

Full-time 9 weeks (or negotiated weeks): June 29 to August 30, 2024. Camp sessions: $640 per week (depending on grants). Staff training week: $480/week. We are looking for a Head Lifeguard and Lifeguards to manage and supervise the pool and pool activities. They ensure the pool is maintained and all regulations are followed. They work together to ensure safe swimming at all times. When not lifeguarding they assist with planning and leading camp program activities. NLS Certification required. On site living is required.

  • Assess and maintain the safety of all people in and around the pool or swimming area.
  • Remain alert and use all senses while guarding.
  • Perform first aid and emergency care treatment when required.
  • Work as a team with other lifeguards and camp staff.
  • Handle discipline situations with respect and courtesy.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the pool area, equipment, and first aid inventory.
  • Complete all necessary checklists and reports.
  • Conduct daily testing of the swimming water; record results and report any concerns to the Camp Director.
  • Communicate and enforce all Cave Springs swimming and pool regulations, policies and procedures are followed.
  • Evaluate conditions for safety and initiates aquatics emergency action plan as required.
  • Be prepared to execute emergency procedures.
  • Assist with daily cleaning tasks in the pool area.
  • Attend all scheduled staff meetings.
  • Assist program team with designing and preparing camp activities.
  • Provide leadership, support, and assistance with camp activities.
  • Provide camper support, assistance and leadership.
  • Fill in for counselling and program staff as needed and assigned.
  • Carefully manage, maintain, and care for camp spaces and equipment.
  • Contribute to a safe, healthy, and inclusive environment for all campers and staff.

Head of Ropes

Full-time 9 weeks (or negotiated weeks): June 29 to August 30, 2024. $640/week. Head of Ropes works together with the Director, Program Coordinator, and other ropes staff to ensure the safe and effective running of the High Ropes Program. They are in charge of maintaining the equipment and the environment of the high ropes and low ropes course, as well as coordinating and running ropes programing, including initiatives and team building activities. When not at the high ropes course, they assist in other camp programing as needed. Level 2 High Ropes Instructor Certification Required. On site living is required.

  • Assess and maintain the safety of all people in and around the high ropes course.
  • Supervise the running of the high ropes program.
  • Plan and lead initiatives, communication and teamwork activities, and low ropes activities for campers.
  • Perform first aid and emergency care treatment when required.
  • Work as a team with other ropes staff and camp staff.
  • Handle discipline situations with respect and courtesy.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the ropes shed, equipment, and first aid inventory.
  • Complete all necessary checklists and reports.
  • Conduct pre-use checks and continued ongoing assessment of the safety of equipment and the surrounding environment; record results and report any concerns to the Camp Director.

Main Staff Positions

Counsellors (Day & Overnight)

Full-time 9 weeks (or negotiated weeks): June 29 to August 30, 2024. Camp sessions: $580 per week (depending on grants). Staff training week: $480/week. We are looking for Day Camp and Overnight Counsellors. Counsellors are responsible for the care and supervision of camper groups throughout the day. As such, they will accompany their groups to all activities and will also have numerous opportunities to plan and facilitate fun and engaging programming for their campers. They are role models, mentors, listeners, adventure guides, problem solvers, and encouragers who are the frontline faces, hands, eyes and ears of the Cave Springs camp experience. Day Camp Counsellors have the option to live on site throughout the week and continue to support the overnight program when day camp ends.

  • Provide a safe, healthy, and inclusive environment for all campers and staff.
  • Act as a positive role-model for campers, staff, volunteers, and others associated with the camping program.
  • Act as a servant leader who is present and attentive to the needs of campers and staff.
  • Facilitate the planning of the daily schedule for assigned group.
  • Lead activities for assigned group.

Assistant Head Cook

Full-time 10 weeks: June 24 to August 30, 2024. $640/week.
The Assistant Head Cook assists with the ongoing work and supervision of the kitchen to ensure that the kitchen runs in a safe and smooth manner. They assist with ordering food and ensuring that campers and staff receive healthy and tasty meals. They provide supervision and direction in the kitchen, as assigned by the Head Chef, ensuring that all kitchen staff have what they need to be successful. They are a senior staff member who is a role model and leader for the staff team.

  • Follow Cave Springs Camp and Niagara Public Health food handling and kitchen sanitation standards and requirements.
  • Assist with food storage according to all camp standards.
  • Assist the Head Cook with menu creation and adjustments.
  • Assist the Head Cook with the procurement of all food, as needed.
  • Assist the Head Cook with the preparation of all food, as instructed or assigned.
  • Carefully follow the camp nut and allergy policies.
  • Assist the Head Cook in providing menu alternatives for campers and staff with special food needs.
  • Work with the kitchen team to provide meals on time and with sufficient quantities.
  • Assist the Head Cook with the maintenance ofn stock levels of all kitchen supplies.

Kitchen Staff

Full-time 9 weeks (or negotiated weeks): June 29 to August 30, 2024. Camp sessions: $580 per week (depending on grants). Staff training week: $480/week. Kitchen Staff work with our Head Cook to prepare nutritious tasty meals for the whole camp. When they are not working in the kitchen they will hop into various parts of camps to help with programming and supporting camper groups. Kitchen Staff are hardworking flexible staff who love to prepare food and bring smiles to kids faces.

  • Accommodate special diets if within the capabilities of Cave Springs Camp kitchen.
  • Prepare, cook and serve food according to the nutritional guidelines set out by Canada’s Food Guide.
  • Cooperate and plan with the Camp Director for any special programs involving food.
  • Assist and/or supervise kitchen clean up: Wash dishes, glasses, pots, pans, and utensils
  • Sweep and mop floor Assist and/or supervise the safe storage of food.
  • Ensure that all garbage is removed from the kitchen and sent to the appropriate areas (dumpster, compost, recycling)
  • Understand and execute Camp Kitchen Policies and Procedures.
  • Practice good health habits and maintain personal appearance.
  • Assist with Summer Camp Programming when not working in the kitchen.
  • Attend and participate fully in all pre-camp training sessions.
  • Sets personal goals and engage in on-going self-evaluation.

Assistant Program Coordinator

Full-time 9 weeks (or negotiated weeks): June 29 to August 30, 2024. $640/week. The Assistant Program Coordinator works with the Program Coordinator to make sure camp runs smoothly each day. They help with planning, preparing, executing, cleaning up, and reflecting on all the daily camp programing needs. They put their creative skills to use by helping to plan new games and activities every week and are often seen in costumes or covered in craft supplies. On site living is required.

  • Assist the Program Coordinator with program related tasks, such as planning and leading camp wide activities, planning and preparing themed events, campfires, crafts, ect.
  • Assist in the decision making process and implementation of decisions for the daily operations of camp programs.
  • Assist with the coordination and execution of the daily camp programs.
  • Bring new ideas and activities that enhance the camp program.
  • Provide a safe, healthy, and inclusive environment for all campers and staff.

Assistant Coordinator

Full-time 9 weeks (or negotiated weeks): June 29 to August 30, 2024. $640/week. The Assistant Coordinator work with the Day Camp and Overnight Coordinators to make sure camp runs smoothly each day. They help to support staff, assist with Day Camp sign in/out, lead activities, maintain spaces and resources, and more. When not engaged with Day Camp or Overnight specific duties, they support the wider camp program with the rest of the program team. On site living is required.

  • Assist in the decision making and implementation of decisions for the daily operations of camp programs.
  • Assist with the coordination and execution of the daily prpgram schedules.
  • Provide a safe, healthy, and inclusive environment for all campers and staff.
  • Act as a positive role-model for staff, campers, volunteers, and others associated with the camping program.
  • Provide support and assistance for the wider camp program, such as camp wide activities, themed events, campouts, high ropes, ect.
  • Provide resources, equipment and practical support for camp staff.
