Camp staff are chosen from a wide range of applicants and go through an intense screening and training process. Staff display a Christian commitment, caring attitude and enthusiasm for children.

We are currently accepting applications for our Head Staff Team, Program Staff, Group Leaders, and Kitchen Staff. Please take the time to read through the detailed postion descriptions below. Interested applicants must complete an application package at Cave Springs Camp Staff Applications.

Head Staff Team 
Postions:Assistant Head Day Camp
1 position available

Members of the head staff team will have responsibilities specific to a designated area of camp. They will attend additional “head staff training” to prepare for their leadership roles within the camp community.

All members of the Head Staff Team will be supervised by the four person Directing Team (comprised of the Camp Director, Head Program, Head Day Camp, and Head Mainsite).

All members of the Head Staff Team will have opportunities to facilitate camper programming and staff training.

Assistant Heads will work in conjunction with their designated area head to plan scheduling, staffing, and programming for their areas. Candidates for Assistant Head positions will ideally have some previous camp experience and a wealth of ideas about how to implement quality staff training, and camper programming.

Assistant Heads MUST be available for the entirety of July and August. 

Overnight Counselor 


Group leaders will be responsible for the care and supervision of camper groups throughout the day. Group leaders will accompany their groups to all activities and will have numerous opportunities to plan and facilitate programming for their campers.

Group leaders will work in assigned teams each week and placed in charge of group of approximately 8-12 campers. Group leaders will also have opportunities to work as 1:1 integration support leaders for campers and volunteers with exceptionalities.

Group leaders must excel at forming meaningful connections with children and youth ages 5-15. Group leaders are responsible for building team dynamic and community bonds within their camper groups and within the wider camp community.

Overnight counselors will be supervised by the Directing Team and will be directing accountable to the Head of Mainsite and Assistant Head of Mainsite.

Overnight Counselors must live on site at camp for the duration of each camp session.

Kitchen Staff

Kitchen staff will be responsible for the preparation and serving of meals for all camp participants each day. Camp meals include breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks throughout the day.

The camp kitchen is a fully equipped industrial cooking environment. Kitchen staff must be willing to work in a fast paced environment. Kitchen staff positions are perfect for young adults looking to build their skill set as chefs in a fun, welcoming, and creative environment.  Kitchen staff are an integral part of our camp staff and attend all staff training events.

Kitchen staff will also have the opportunity to participate as program staff (planning and leading camp activities) throughout the day.

Requirements:
-Be available for the term of employment as specified in the contract.
-Be willing to live residentially at the camp
-Attend camp training sessions as specified in the contract.
-Enjoy working in a child/youth focused environment
-Be open and inviting to all that are at Cave Springs Camp regardless of race, gender, age and background.
-Submit a Police Criminal Record Check and completed medical form on or before June 1st of the year of employment.

-Ontario Food Handlers certificate an asset. 

 

Program Staff
All positions available

Program staff will be responsible for the planning and implementation of daily camp programming. Program areas include but are not limited to:

-High Ropes

-Low Ropes

-Swimming

-Canoeing

-Arts and Crafts

-Music

-Drama

-Archery

-Creative play

-Spirituality

-Nature education

-Camping

-Athletics

-Hiking

Program staff should have one of the following current qualifications:

Bronze Cross, National Lifeguard, Assistant Ropes Course Instructor (Level 1), Ropes Course Instructor (Level 2)
OR particular expertise in any of the above listed program areas. Willingness to obtain additional certifications considered an asset.

Program staff will be supervised by the Directing Team and will be directly accountable to the Program Head and Assistant Program Head.

Program staff will have ample opportunities to put their creativity to use in planning unique and exciting programming for the summer. Program staff will interact daily with campers of all ages and will have an opportunity to be involved in all areas of camp.

Requirements:
-Be available for the term of employment as specified in the contract.
-Be willing to live residentially at the camp from June 28th- August 25th, 2018.
-Attend camp training sessions as specified in the contract.
-Be open and inviting to all that are at Cave Springs Camp regardless of race, gender, age and background.
-Have expertise in multiple areas of camp programming
-Submit a Police Criminal Record Check and completed medical form on or before June 1st of the year of employment.
-Must hold current CPR and First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain essential


-National Lifeguard certification, or willingness to obtain 
-Challenge Course Certifications – ACCT Level 1-2, or willingness to obtain
